BEEF

“GRASS-FED BEEF”:

Uruguayan cattle are bred in the open range all year long, naturally fed on a vegetable protein basis, with no use of animal products or by-products whatsoever. These practices are forbidden by law for over 20 years.

Animals bred in their natural habitat mean healthier products. Grass-Fed Beef is substantially lower in fat and cholesterol.

This meat has higher levels of Omega 3 and CLA (Conjugated Linoleic Acid), an anti-carcinogenic associated to various health-improvement factors.

Grass-Fed Beef’s flavour is often described as “refined” and “clean”, and is mainly due to natural pastures and the seasonal variables each animal is bred upon.

The flavour of free-range, Grass-Fed Beef is, simply, the flavour that meat ought to have.

Seven reasons to prefer Grass-Fed Beef:

  • Antibiotic-free
  • Growth Hormone-free
  • Healthy Omega 3 fats
  • Healthier meat, with anti-carcinogenic properties - CLA (Conjugated Linoleic Acid)
  • Animals receive humane treatment, minimizing stress and trauma
  • Animal products/by-products free
  • Minimun E.coli risk

“GRAIN-FED BEEF”

Uruguay is one of the countries that qualify for the European Union’s quota on high quality grain-finished beef, along with other countries like Australia, New Zealand, Canada and U.S.A.

EU Commission Regulation 620/2009 allows feed lot beef to compete against four other countries for the amount of 20,000 tons/zero tariff until July 2012. From that date on, the amount will rise to 45,000 tons.

In this new line of products, our meat comes from steers under 30 months old, fed on concentrates for at least 100 days prior to slaughtering --which is performed in our four industrial plants, all of them duly authorized for EU exporting.
